The Review: Revlon Scented Parfume 'Mint Gelato'

Not so Minty Fresh....

Have you ever wanted something so badly that when you finally get it, it never lives up to your expectations and you feel let down? Well unfortunately this was the case with one of our more recent purchases...Revlon's 'Mint Gelato' (insert sad face here).

We have wanted this baby in our collection for awhile now and just recently it made the cut, but to mixed reviews....

Why? One of the biggest issues we have with this polish is the scent.  It has more of a sweet, sickly mint scent to it that is just waaaaay to strong and overpowering. Even two days after applying the scent has not calmed down and is almost stomach turning.

The other issue we have with this polish is the colour. In the bottle the shade looked a lighter, more pastel mint (which we adore) but when dry, the colour changes to a much stronger, primary green...which for us is not a very flattering shade on the nails (unless for Paddy's day of course).

All in all we are a little disappointed with this Minty offering from Revlon which is a shame really as we usually love everything from this brand!!
This just goes to show that it's all trial and error when testing out products ladies and you never get it right all of the time.

Nevertheless we hope you enjoyed this honest review...

Were off to eat some After Eights to cheer ourselves up YUM!!

MUA Madness....

Seeing as the Payday purchases  haven't stopped since the last blog.... here are some extra bits and bobs, we just couldn't resist throwing up.

MUA are a fantastic little collection. They are very affordable and come in such a great variety there is something for all you gals ,whether you are a Bright Blue Eyed Beauty or a Dark Mysterious Doll!!

Most of the products range between €1.35 to €10.oo and we have come to notice that Superdrug do the best selection we've seen around. We've spent a lot of time checking out the aisles picking and choosing, arguing with ourselves if we should make the "purchase" or not!!

So we DID!!!!  <3

The lippy's are coming in at €1.35 each and for that price this is exactly what you get. Not so impressive unfortunately.....

After an hour or two wear they really don't last, they gather and really begin to look cheap. We do however recommend mixing them with a little bit of Vaseline, and applying to lips to give that hint of colour and moisture!
.......But we are so glad we've tried them, as sometimes when you take a chance, this is where the little gems are found!!

The Blush, on the other hand are little treats.
They are lovely upon application and look great on all skin tones. With 6 shades available  it is easy to find one to match your skin tone whatever it may be. Also €1.35 each.

The Eyeliners, are gorgeous, very soft and beautiful on application.. The colours are highly pigmented and look great on their own or teamed with a natural make up look.

So in conclusion, you win some and lose some in the MUA range.
They are good value for money but only on selected items. Being so cheap though, you really can't go wrong. They are great little products for teens and won't break the bank. <3

Prepping for Pastels

Let's talk Nail Enamel's...

Seeing as Little Miss Sunshine is a bit unpredictable we've decided to take matters into our own mitts :)

It's time to start Prepping those hands and feet for those yummy spring pastels...

If you are still in the Winter Wonders, keep with the dark colours...but maybe add some glitz, like a two toned nail! However, if you are trying to embrace the rays, why not break out those bright finger tips!

We are loving the gorgeous colour offerings from Revlon at the moment and with the 3 for 2 offer on all make-up brands currently running in boots,  you really can't go wrong.

These Chic Paint Pots are coming in at €10 and are totally worth every penny as they are amazing quality, highly pigmented and don't chip easily. Our personal favourites are 'Mint Gelato', 'Orange Pop' and 'Sheer Nude'.

Go on Girls try them out!!

Payday Purchases

Whether it's every week, every second week or once a month...when Payday comes around we all like to splurge a little and treat ourselves...After all We Deserve It!!

So with this in mind I paid a cheeky visit to the Jervis shopping centre after work to 'have a look around' knowing only to well my laser would take a bit of a bashing...Who was I kidding??

I put this Pic up on our Facebook Page and as promised will show your girlies what I got:

First Up I have GOT to talk about the Boots...Oh the Boots...

I have been on the look out for a comfy, mid-heel, chelsea-like black boot for months and I finally found the perfect pair!!
I picked up these babies for an incredible €35 from Newlook!!

Also available in a brown (which I was so close to buying but had to restrain myself) these double buckled booties would be perfect with skinny jeans or cute summer dresses!!

Next I headed to Boots ONLY to get some cleanser...but we all know you Can NEVER go into Boots and just come out with one thing....

So, I picked up my favourite cleanser at the mo...the Garnier Soft Essentials for Dry skin which is a gorgeous velvety cleansing milk. They had 2 for €6 on Garnier so I also got the cleansing wipes <3

I then saw my favourite Drugstore brand REVLON had a 3 for 2 offer on and just HAD to take advantage.

I've had my eye on the shade 'Mint Gelato' from Revlon's Scented Parfume range for the past few weeks and finally decided to stop pining over it and just buy it...

For those of you who don't know, this range of nail polishes are scented when dry. So I will keep you posted on how minty my nails are in the morning...

I also picked up Revlon's newest foundation 'Nearly Naked' in the shade 150 Nude just as I have herd a lot of good reviews and wanted to test it out myself. So you guys can expect a review very soon.....

Finally, I got the Revlon Photoready concealer in the shade 002 light. I love this creamy concealer and my old one was running low so decided to stock up!!

So there you have it ladies...I hope you liked some of the things I got <3

Roll on next Payday

Night Time Smokey/Orange Eye

Hello Ladies,
Here are some of the products I used to create the Night Time Smokey Eye as promised.

For Foundation,
I used the gorgeous Estee Lauder Double Wear Make-up. This was the sample I got from Clerys.
It is so great as it stays put all night and top up's are very minimal throughout the evening.

I am Dark/Olive toned so I used the colour Henna a perfect match for my skin. If you are on the  fair side just pop into the girls on the counter and they will match you right up.
Available in Clerys and Debenhams.

Applied with Mac 187 Foundation Brush

I have very Oily Skin so I used Inglot Loose Power, number 15 with
Mac 150 Powder Brush.

For Blush, I used 17, Colour First Flush with
Mac 168 Angled brush.

For eyes I used Mac Smolder Eyeliner on the Waterline.

Eyelids-Nars, Night Breed
Mac Brush 239 Eyeshadow Brush

Inglot Eyeshadow Colour  AMC 51 In the crease of eye.
Mac 217 Blending Brush

.
To Highlight I used a small bit of Benefit's Sunbeam in Golden Bronze Complexion on top of cheekbones and my cupids bow.

And finally.... for those Luscious Looking Lips I used Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in colour
011 Spice all over the lips.
Also a small bit of Rimmel Apocalips in colour Celestial.

This is one of my favourite Evening looks and hopefully you'll get to see this look in action soon when our videos are up on YouTube.

Simple Spring Face

Hello Lovely's,

This morning I put up this picture on our Facebook page of my Simple Spring make-up look. This look is so easy to do and should literally only take you 7 mintues!!

Here is a look at the products I used to achieve this look and a quick step by step guide:

1. Firstly you want to get an even skin tone by applying an all over base. For this I used the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in the shade 53.

2. I then filled in my brow's using the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow pencil in the shade 001 Dark Brown. If you want to know how we fill in our brows check out our Beautiful Brow's Blog here

3. I have quite dry skin so I skipped powdering and went straight onto blush. For this I used a gorgeous peachy MUA Blush in the shade 5 and placed just on the apples of the cheeks.

 4. I then moved onto eyes and using my finger, put a little Catrice Made to Stay Eyeshadow in the shade 060 Jennifer's Goldrush (this is a gorgeous soft green shade with flecks of gold running through) all over the lid just to add a bit of colour/shimmer to the eyes.

5. I then applied 1 coat of one of my Favourite mascara's....Rimmel's Extra Super Lash   to my lashes to really open up the eyes.

6. And finally to finish off my Spring look, I used this gorgeous moisturizing Revlon Lip Butter in the shade Macaroon to add a pop of colour to the lips.

And there you have it ladies, a Simple Fresh Spring look in minutes.

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed...I'm off to soak up some sun!!

Beautiful Brows

We here at VII love a good strong yet natural brow and in today's post we will talk through some of the products/techniques we like to use to achieve Beautiful Brows!

A few tip's before we start :

  • Always stick to your natural brown shape as this will be the most flattering for your face! Work with what you have, as you should only be enhancing those pretty features.
  • Never...and we really mean NEVER wax your eyebrows...it might be the fastest/painless way to groom your brow's ladies but over time your eyelids WILL sag/stretch...You have been warned! (Threading is a great alternative and the results also last longer).
  • If you are a brunette your brows should be about two shades lighter, but of you are blonde, you should take them up two shades darker, as this will make your eyes to Pop!

Now your brows are all prepped lets talk products...You can use a pencil or shadow to fill in your brow's...One is not better than the other, it really is down to personal preference or what kind of look you want to achieve.
Image Via: http://ie.rimmellondon.com

If you like using a Pencil, a great affordable pick is Rimmel London's Professional Eyebrow pencil. This pencil, which also includes a small brush on the lid (see image below) is available in Boots, comes in 3 shades and costs €4.95.

Another highly talked about, amazing brow pencil is the Anastasia Brow Whizz. On the more expensive side at approx €15, the brow whizz is amazing for those of you with sparse brows as the tip is extremely fine, allowing you to mimic the appearance of tiny hairs! It also includes a spoole at one end which is great for brushing through and softening your brows!!
Image via: www.anastasia.net/
The Brow Whizz is available online at the above website and comes in 6 shades.

For those of you who prefer to use an eye shadow and brush we would recommend using a angled brush like a Mac 266 or a more affordable option is the Catrice eyebrow brush (available in Pennys €4). Using a angled brush will help you achieve the perfect arch and professional defined brow!

Using the Catrice angled brush <3

Finished Brow

As for shadows we both loving the shades Espresso and Show Stopper from Mac which are great shades for brunettes but can also double up as amazing crease colours for a smokey eye look!!
Mac Showstopper (left) Mac Espresso (right)

So that concludes are Beautiful Brows post...Hope you ladies found this helpful!!

All this brow talk reminds me I gotta book a threading...
