VII Top 3 Real Techniques Brushes

Sam Chapman's Real Techniques brushes are  fast becoming a stable in every makeup lovers collection, constantly flying off the shelves or out of stock online and it's easy to see why!!

Not only are they top quality, cruelty free and wash like a dream (this is a big deal maker in our books) but most importantly...they are extremely affordable - individual brushes start around the €10 mark or sets which include 4 brushes around the €25 mark!

We reviewed the Duo Fiber set last month which you can read HERE but in this post we will talk you girlies through our Top 3 must haves!!

So if you are new to Real Techniques or have always wanted to try them out but are unsure on which brushes to go for we suggest you keep on reading.............

1. Expert Face Brush

This has got to be our favourite of all the RT brushes. Ideal for liquid foundation, as it has quite dense, firm hairs which really work the product into the skin! We also love it for cream bronzer as it's an ideal size and shape for contouring under the cheekbones and around the face!!

This brush gives a really flawless, pro finish and we can't live without it!

Price: €11.99

2. Blush Brush

The Blush Brush is another staple that we love and use in our everyday makeup routine - but not for Blusher....We just find it a little to big, even for our ample cheeks!!

What we do use it for is Powder (Our favourite at the mo is Rimmels Stay Matte in case your wondering).

We don't know if its the synthetic talkon bristles or the fact (like all the RT brushes) it's hand cut, but this brush just picks up the perfect amount of powder needed and blends it into the skin magically!

We also use this a lot if we want to bronze up the face with a soft contour!

Price: €11.99

3. Setting Brush

And finally, it was a tough choice but in the end we chose the RT Setting Brush as our final must have!

We love this little brush as it has a number of uses...............It is fab for controlling the amount of powder you are applying to the face. So is you are prone to an oily t-zone this would be ideal as you don't have to powder the whole face - just wherever you need!

Likewise we love it for setting under eye concealer and also it's great for applying highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones or cupid's bow!

This is a great little addition to anyone's makeup bag!

Price: € 8.50

So that concludes VII Top 3 Real Techniques brushes!
We highly recommend these and if you need any more info just leave a comment below!

They are available from Boots and Cloud10beauty, links below:

Sugaring???!!

Have you ladies tried Sugaring??? Well if not you are about to hear about it very soon!!

An old technique of Arab waxing that's been used since 1900BC has just become the new craze once again!!
We have seen salon's are now advertising it, coming in quite expensive it is the new "method of hair removal".

Now we all love waxing when done properly. It promises to last six/eight weeks and leaves you with a smooth finish unlike shaving!! And in all honesty "Nair" does the trick for about 10 seconds too, but if you are dark haired or course, you just need that extra helping hand.

So we've seen this "Sugaring" method a lot recently and after a few YouTube tutorials we've decided to try it out for ourselves. We are no waxing guru's but we do wax ourselves and don't usually attend a salon, so unsurprisingly  we were a little intrigued.....

Here's how we done it!
Firstly we measured two cups of sugar, a quarter cup of lime even though the ingredients advised lemon that's all we had and one cup of water.

Place the ingredients in a pot and let them simmer away. The mixture will eventually become golden in colour  and the consistency will be similar of honey. This is when you know it is ready for use.

Pour the mixture into a bowl, we suggest an old bowl so you can re-use it over time and then let it cool. Be careful in this process as you can really do damage if it spills. When the mixture cools a little it will start to harden. You can then re-shape the wax how ever you like and and re-heat it to the temperature desired. We decided to use the paper strips with this wax as we were a little experienced with this as opposed to just removing by hand.

The hair came away immediately and the after result was pretty impressive!! We simply lathered the mixture on, placed the strip over and removed with one swift pull. It took a few goes to get it right but eventually it worked out and we enjoyed trying this one out.

We recommend maybe trying"sugaring" in a salon for the first time but if you are a little daring then go ahead and heat it up!!
We love this method as it's cheap and effective and you can get the ingredients straight from your kitchen...

So go ahead ladies try this one out!! If not for you, it's taste sweet like caramel :)

Makeup remover

Have you ever ran out of MakeUp remover when you just needed it!!!???!!!
I think we all have!! And what a nightmare! There is nothing worst then coming home, especially after a night out and figuring that you need to take your makeup off and let your skin breathe!!!

Well here's a few tips, that might just be lying around your kitchen you can pick up and try them out any time!!

HONEY & BAKING SODA

Add a little honey honey to your facecloth and a sprinkle of baking soda and massage into the face. This should help clear it right off!

STEAM!!!

Yes we all think it's crazy but fill a basin of hot boiling water and be careful please!! Place your face over it and let it perspire for a few minutes! It opens up all your pores and proves easier to remove your makeup. We recommend doing this as a treat to your skin also! It's a better option. So if you are staying in on a saturday night go ahead and pamper that face girlies!!

OLIVE OIL

You can't beat some olive oil.. not only does it have healing properties. It's soften agents are ideal for dry skin and this is a quick, great makeup remover if you have been on a night out and you can't find those wipes!! Just make sure you have something to eat before!! You might get tempted!!
MILK

And last but not least Milk!! Milk is a great agent for removing mascara and eyeliner!! Simply place some on a cotton ball and run over your eyes. It's delicate easy and all natural!!

We love natural remedies here at Seven. And you never know when they just may be useful!! Hope you have fun trying them out :)

Maybelline Super Stay 7 Day Review

Recently, we picked up one of the Maybelline Super Stay polishes on one of our many BOOTS trips. We know we really didn't need ANOTHER polish to add to our now, overflowing collection but this range has been getting a lot of good reviews  so we wanted to see what the fuss was about (and it did help Boots had a buy one get one half price offer on!)

After much humming and hawing we went with the shade 'Nude Pink'....a gorgeous light rose pink shade that would suit any skin tone! (See Image Below)

This collection from Maybelline promises 7 day wear - without ANY chipping/damage to the nails! Now, it's safe to say we were a little sceptical..Being busy bloggers we are constantly typing (which is any manicures nightmare) and usually would only ever get 2 or so days out of our nail polish before chips would start to appear...No matter how expensive the polish may be.....

However, we are pleased to report this polish lasted an amazing 6 days on the nails before ANY sign of a chipping...pretty special by our standard!

The Brush is on the larger side...which I know some people dislike but if your lucky and have large nail beds this could be the range for you as one swipe and your good to go!! We applied two coats with no top coat as we wanted to see what this polish was made of :P

So all in all we were very impressed by the Super Stay 7 Day Polishes and would highly recommend them!

They are available in Boots and Superdrug, priced around the €5 mark but try to get them when the buy one get one half price offer is on :)

Let us know if you have tried this range and what you think Girlies....

Another Boots Haul (PayDay)

Have a stroll around Boots, we said.... Just look, we said...Be careful, we said........ Ehhhhhhhhh.....Oops!!!

Well it didn't go that way at all!!! And I suppose we needed to find  a few Bargains right!??!  Seeing as Boots is one of our favourite stores in the world with the best deals we just couldn't resist!!!

Here's what we got!!! And all within reason!!

Loreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution!

This has been featured before in a previous blog by the other half of VII and we just needed a top up!! This promises to remove your MakeUp completely,
unclogs pores, tones and soothes. It costs €4.45 and is available from BOOTS!

The second Item we purchased was the new NIVEA In Shower Body Moisturiser.

We got both of them as we couldn't choose, one for normal skin the other for dry skin!! In the meantime we have used them and both are really great! Just use your product as normal and when you are finished apply the moisturiser leave for a few moments and then rinse off!! Your skin feels really great!! And at €2.70 you can't go wrong!!!

The third item we got was the RIMMEL nail rescue, we felt the need to buy this as we paint our nails all sorts of colours and they definitely needed a little TLC lately!!!! They've have been coming along great the last few days after we applied it!!

We just love voluminous hair at VII and whenever it needs a helping hand we are on it as quick as possible!! So for our fourth Item we purchased TRESemme 24 HOUR BODY and their TOUCHABLE FINISH Hairspray!!
As boots were doing an offer we got both for €9.50.

We adore both products as the spray boasts volume and the hairspray holds it!! Simply Spray the roots of the hair  with the 24 hour body and dry off. We suggest using your Velcro rollers after also!!!

And last but not least our "little bits and pieces" that included....

  • Miracle Matte primer- Perfect for priming the skin before foundation application. €6.29
  • Rimmel Lip pencil - One of our Fav's  for lining the lips with an all day lasting finish in the colour spice. €4.65
  • Lash Accelerator mascara - Amazing for thick long lashes. €10.99
  • Rimmel Nail whitening pencil -To get rid of any discolouration  €4.65

So girls another week has passed and once again another Haul... That it, Until the next time we  "stroll" through boots..... :)
